The Miami Valley Council’s GRAND CHALLENGE for 2010 is this:
10,000 Blood Donations in 2010! … One Pint at a Time
Help get the word out! . Encourage as many as possible to plan to donate. Send your unit an email, encourage youth leaders to make announcements at unit meetings, post information in your chartered organization newsletter. Donate blood four times in 2010 or recruit two individuals to donate twice through the Community Blood Center at any locarion and earn a blood donation patch. Be sure you tell them you are donating on behalf of the Miami Valley Council Boy Scouts of America so that your donation will be credited to our 10,000 donations. Go to http://www.donortime.com to schedule an appointment at a donation center near you.
100,000 Hours of Community Service! … One Hour at a Time
How are the community service hours stacking up?! Check the Miami Valley Council Website for an update on how many hours have been completed to date. Don’t forget to record your community service hours and email them to dkime3610@hotmail.com. Help get the word out in the community about the great things that happen in Scouting by submitting a brief article and photos to your local newspaper. Sharing our stories should be a part of the 2010 celebration! Email those same stories and pictures to mad100k@yahoo.com to be included in the Miami Valley Council 100th Celebration DVD!
Patches:
Four patches will be available for Scouts, Leaders, and Alumni to earn throughout 2010:
Centennial Celebration Council Strip:
This patch may be purchased by anyone for $5
Centennial Community Service Council Strip:
This patch must be earned by completing 10 hours of documented community service (cost $5)
Centennial Blood Drive Patch:
This patch must be earned by donating blood four times or recruiting two donors to donate twice
A Year of Celebration National Patch:
This patch must be earned between September 1, 2009 – December 31, 2010. Requirements may be downloaded from the 100th B'Day link above
